I had a conversation with naz a few days ago about the bombing in Gaza. and it just spark this whole thing which got us thinking.
It made us both realize we each live in this bubble, in our little world, completely oblivious about what's happening out there. we found out about the bombing 6 days after the actual bombing? T_T
thousands are in pain, suffering, dying. and usually the first thing that comes into our mind is "oh, another bombing, what's new eh?"
but at the same time, i think, what can we do to help? there's nothing much we can do. cuz we each have this mentality; how can someone like me, put an end to somethings as big as the war?
therefore, we leave it up to some else to end it and we move on with our lives.
don't you feel helpless and guilty?
when thousands out there are dying of hunger, we cant even finish a plate of nasi kandar.
when thousands out there are drinking dirty contaminated water, we cant even turn off the tap when we brush our teeth.
when thousands out there are suffering and dying, we're busy choosing an outfit for the next day
but somehow, we dont appreciate what we have much.
i wonder if its possible to appreciate what we already have now? without wanting more?
fact is, we live in a materialistic world. its always about the latest fashion, the latest gadget the latest this and the latest that.
something that I've come to realize. nothing is ever enough for us. no matter how many dozens pair of shoes you have, or a closet overflowing with clothes, it is never enough.
you always want more. i mean even when we go out to a mall, we're so itchy to just buy something. no matter what it is, a book, a pair of shoes, doughnuts. somehow, you just NEED to get something.
I want to appreciate other things in my life. the people i love especially, family and friends.
i want that. AND at the same time feel appreciated as well. cuz sometimes, no matter what i do, even at my own expense, my efforts are not appreciated.
okay way off topic.
so loike. imma start appreciating. god knows how. imma try.
=)
